Specialized Services Available to Dairy Farmers:

Our services are designed to provide Dairy Farmers with a full complement of analytical and diagnostic services in a timely, prompt, cost effective manner.   Specialized services include the microbiological analysis, monitoring, and interpretation of bulk tank milk, individual milk cultures, milking equipment, feed, water, and environmental samples.  The purpose of these tests is to validate sanitation efforts and milking procedures, assess treatment efforts, and evaluate the abundance and distribution of specific bacterial organisms in the udders of herd individuals, bulk tank milk, and the dairy farm environment.  By performing these tests, the intent is to assure high-quality dairy milk, sanitary milking equipment, and a healthy herd.   Estimated test time is dependent on test.

Estimated test time is dependent on specific test and on when test is initiated. Samples received in late afternoon or evening will not be started until the following morning, unless RUSH/STAT analysis is requested, in which an additional fee is applied.

• Bulk Tank Milk Tests - Culturing Bulk Tank Milk serves as a powerful management tool for Dairy Farms.  Assure you milk is of high quality by assessing the abundance and distribution of specific bacterial organisms with this service.

• Mastitis Pathogen Identification Cultures - Diagnose Mastitis infections and gain valuable insight towards eradicating contagious and environmental opportunistic pathogens with this service.

• Antibiotic Sensitivity & Susceptibility for Mastitis Infections - This test provides data for choosing the most effective antibiotic for Mastitis infections by addressing issues of bacterial susceptibility and sensitivity through analyzing minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC)

• Antibiotic Residue Testing - Samples are analyzed for drug residues in milk.

• Milking Equipment Analysis - Validate sanitation efforts and milking procedures by evaluating the abundance and distribution of specific bacterial organisms on milking equipment by performing these tests.

• Environmental Testing - Learn about the abundance and distribution of specific bacterial organisms on your dairy farm with these tests.  Ultimately, owners gain valuable insight towards their herds living conditions and health.

• Selective Bacterial Analysis - Select from a wide range of Selective Bacterial Analyses for your sample to be screened for. Estimated test time is dependent on test and on when the tests are initiated. Samples received in late afternoon or evening will not be started until the following morning.

• Somatic Cell Herd Health Monitoring Program - Monitor Herd Health & Increase Profits with this service! Clients have the option to either personally collect samples themselves or have an RML field technician professionally collect and transport samples for them. Clients who collect samples themselves can then either ship samples to RML for lab testing or arrange for sample pick-up by RML.

• Sample Collection & Sample Pick-up - Have a qualified field technician collect and transport your samples, saving you time and the hassle of packaging and shipping samples or collect samples yourself and arrange for your samples to be picked up by RML!

Discounts: Price deductions are available when larger amounts of samples are taken at one time. Discounts apply to Testing Fees and not Technician Service Fees and Mileage Fees

• 40 - 59 samples are eligible for a 5 % discount.

• 60 - 79 samples are eligible for a 10 % discount.
• 80 samples and above are eligible for a 15 % discount.

Technician Service Fee: An hourly technician fee is charged whenever one of our technicians visits a sampling site. Technician fees are calculated based on the amount of time the technician spends analyzing food handling, sanitation procedures, environmental aspects, food variety, taking samples, etc.
